Residence at Kadawatha

The residence is located in the outskirts of the Colombo district, designed for a family of four. The key requirements of the client was to design a space which was timeless , a space to lay back and relax in as well as a safe and interesting environment for their children to grow up in. The house was designed as an escape from the busy monotonous life that the family experiences from their day to day activities. Hence a natural life, an experience of connecting with both oneself and the natural environment.

The Studio House

The site, located in the suburbs of Colombo, faces a marshy land, providing a unique backdrop for a residence tailored to a software engineer client who now works from home post-pandemic. With a focus on creating a peaceful live-work environment, the project embraces the “living big in a small house” ethos, prioritizing intentional simplicity and essential needs to minimize costs while fostering a homely ambiance.

Kozy’s Canvas

As the residence is for the Architect and his Wife, and as they are both in creative field, love natural environment and loved to entertain there friends, the spaces were created to suite the vibe. Framed views of the nature at different levels, collection of different architectural elements and materials weave together making a perfect canvas for the users to paint the story of their life.

The Paintshop

Hardware is storage full of different materials. But have you seen a hardware that has display and storage both together? The task of transforming a cluttered hardware store into a unique display store is what Archt. Kosala Weerasekara undertook with the Paintshop project in Kaluthara. Situated along the Galle Road in Kaluthara junction the store was right in the middle of the town that needed an attractive face to capture the wandering eye and the needy mind.

Mercantile Cricket Association

Located in the vicinity of the Sinhalese Sports Club, symbolic church of Sri Lankan cricket, the mercantile cricket associations’ has lot to live up to in terms of Sri Lankan Cricket and it’s tradition. A small office in the first floor, which overlooks the ground below, runs the operations for the mercantile cricket association. Renovation of this office interior space to maintain the pride of the long history of the place was the challenge presented to the Architect. It needed a solution that reaches beyond the realm of ordinary cubicles and partitions and provide a statement about the place.

Neem Villas

Neem Villa is a fusion of responsive and robustness, that depicts less and light sensibilities. Located in the famous down south region of Sri Lanka, 264 km away from the capital city of Colombo in Thissamaharama town. This area is well known for the nearby Yala wildlife sanctuary, which is the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka.
