Seeking to call for collaborative, context sensitive and ethically grounded forms of art, the collection attempts to cross pollinate traditional and newly emerging disciplines, communities and knowledge systems. Exploring the power of South Asian womanhood, Feminist Futures is an exhibit investigating feminist art from South Asia by bringing in patriarchy, colonialism and socio- religious structures into the forefront.

Mother, Junglefowl, and Scarecrow
Presented by The Barefoot Gallery Colombo, “Mother, Junglefowl, and Scarecrow” is a solo exhibition by the Sri Lankan artist and illustrator Pathum Sameera. Drawing inspiration through his own childhood memories, and the significant part his mother played; the artist’s storybook-like illustrations attempt to visually capture the pivotal role women play in the southern Sri Lankan rural agricultural landscape.

Swept Away Like Leaves
Paradise Road Saskia Fernando Gallery presents its first ever Artist Spotlight to be in collaboration with Cinnamon Life: “Swept Away Like Leaves”; the most recent solo exhibition of renowned artist Firi Rahman. As a cofounder of the Slave Island collective community project ‘We Are From Here’, the artist documents the contentious relationship between man and nature, through creatively examining creature’s behaviors within the urban realm

Urban Luxe
Perched on the 25th floor of The Grand, Colombo 07, this luxurious apartment interior is designed as a sanctuary for a family of five-a couple and their three young children. Inspired by their five-year stay in the USA, the clients sought a long-term investment that merges modern sophistication with Sri Lankan heritage. The result is an urban retreat that balances functionality, aesthetics, and familial warmth.

Ceylon Tea Lounge
Tea is authentic to Sri Lanka, yet experience in a proper tea lounge was lack in the City. This is a design and built project that was carried out by the F&S to introduce Sri Lankan tea lounge tradition in the city. The work done by the architect include total interior of the lounge with the services. The spaces were designed with the concept of the essence of ‘Tea Leaf’ inside the lounge.

17A, Alfred House Gardens
The nearly three decades old, dilapidated, three-storied family house was renovated with extensions, giving it a modern architectural makeover. Floor layouts were altered to introduce spatial discipline, reduce the spatial clutter, optimize building services, and enhance the use of sunlight & natural ventilation. The 2,560 sqft footprint fitted into the 11.4 perches (3,100 sqft) land in a highly exclusive residential neighborhood doesn’t provide the luxury of space to accommodate open areas that bring natural light and ventilation into the house. The existing courtyard was enhanced while a rear garden & a new light well were introduced to light up and ventilate the house thereby infusing a semblance of spaciousness.

Urban Envelope
Sited in the vibrant city of Colombo is the ‘Urban Envelope’, the dwelling house of a metropolitan architect. With its univocal façade seamlessly weaving itself into the tight residential fabric of the city, the abode has been named for its distinct concealment from the dusty and noisy urban street life of Sri Lanka’s commercial capital.

Mercantile Cricket Association
Located in the vicinity of the Sinhalese Sports Club, symbolic church of Sri Lankan cricket, the mercantile cricket associations’ has lot to live up to in terms of Sri Lankan Cricket and it’s tradition. A small office in the first floor, which overlooks the ground below, runs the operations for the mercantile cricket association. Renovation of this office interior space to maintain the pride of the long history of the place was the challenge presented to the Architect. It needed a solution that reaches beyond the realm of ordinary cubicles and partitions and provide a statement about the place.
