KALA 2025

KALA 2025 is a platform organized in celebrating South Asian and Contemporary art in Sri Lanka; “ Round Table” an event that emerged in bringing conversation and discussion emerges as a platform for conversation. The event hosts three speakers; Theseus Chan: Artist and WERK magazine, Dominic Sansomi: Photographer and Director of Barefoot, Sebastian Posingis: Photographer and Sandra Hill as moderator for the evening. The conversations explore the role of books in the word of art and creativity.

“Mara” by Kingsley Gunatillake

From Old Verandahs to New Spaces

The Integrated Design Conference (IDR) held annually hosts yet another panel discussion titled; “From Old Verandahs to New Spaces : The Journey of a Planter’s Chair”. Professor Nimal De Silva and Architect Ashley De Vos will be the experts joining the discussion on the topic and the panelists consist of international experts on the subject: Rachel Lee, Sarita Sundhar, Paoletta Hoist.The evolution of the planter’s chair from the Colonial times to the current times is explored whereas the historical context, evolution and design’s significance up-to-date will be explored.

ICCPP 2024

The 10th International Conference on Cities, People and Places will be hosted on the 8th and 9th November in Colombo Sri Lanka. The conference explores  the multi-faceted nature of developing resilient cities that enable conditions for convenient urban life: new approaches and future directions. The conference is organized by the ‘UOM Lab’ – ‘Centre for Cities’ of the University of Moratuwa in collaboration with the Department of Architecture.

Child Art Exhibition & Competition

Relationship and Collaboration Child Art Project and Exhibition is to be held; carrying the theme “My Beloved Srilanka” an initiative to explore the creative pursuits of the school children in Kandy. The collaboration between two cities Kumamoto and Kandy along with the artists are providing a great opportunity for the school kids to showcase their talents and to get themselves acquainted. The exhibition is aimed for children between 4 -12 years and any medium is encouraged to be used. The deadline of submissions is the 5th of October 2024.
